WORLDS.COM'S 3-D INTERNET TECHNOLOGY
AND BROADBAND CONTENT LAUNCH ON ROAD RUNNER
First Deployment of Innovative and True 3D Content on the Broadband
Service
Boston, Mass. August 24, 1999- Worlds.com, formerly Worlds, Inc.,
(OTC:WDDD; www.worlds.com), a leader in three dimensional (3D)
technology and content for the Internet, today announced that its
pioneering 3D technology and content is now available to subscribers as
part of the Road Runner broadband package of services.
Road Runner is the high-speed online service owned by Time-Warner,
MediaOne Group, Microsoft Corp., Compaq Computer and
Advance/Newhouse. The Worlds.com Road Runner launch will be the first
deployment of 3D technology on the broadband platform.
"Worlds.com's 3D technology is perfectly poised to maximize the
entertainment promise of the broadband environment," said Steven G.
Chrust, Chairman of Worlds.com. "This first deployment is a promising
glimpse into the next generation of community building and entertainment
on the Internet."
Worlds.com has created a co-branded music environment,
Hang@Worlds.com, for Road Runner that will contain eight different three
dimensional music genre areas - alternative, country, hip hop, soul, metal,
blues, classic rock and jazz. Subscribers will access this environment by
selecting an avatar from Worlds.com's avatar library and travel through
each of the branded music areas.
The site utilizes streaming video and streaming audio to offer personal
music video favorites within each music genre room. Additionally, users
have access to the latest in music news and in the future will be able to
view live cybercasts in the first true three dimensional cybercast theatre
built for the Internet.
"The Internet is developing rapidly," Chrust said. "The introduction of 3D
to the Internet is very much like what happened to broadcast television
when color was introduced to replace black and white. The 3D
environment that Worlds.com is introducing via Road Runner is another
step towards Worlds.com becoming The 3D Internet Channel."
